US President Donald Trump has withdrawn Secret Service protection for former Democratic presidential candidate and former Vice President Kamala Harris, as well as a former national security adviser whose home was raided earlier this month.
Harris, 60, was legally entitled to six months of extra security after leaving office in January, which was set to expire in July, according to the BBC.
Her protection was extended for another year by Trump’s Democratic predecessor, 79-year-old Joe Biden, 82, but it has already been rescinded by the Republican.
The discontinuation of the politician’s security detail comes just before she embarks on a national tour to promote her new book, 107 Days – a memoir detailing her unsuccessful 2024 presidential campaign.
