3. Prepare the batter
In a large bowl, beat the eggs and sugar with an electric mixer for 2-3 minutes, until white and fluffy. Add the melted butter (or oil) and vanilla extract, and mix well.
4. Incorporate the dry ingredients
Sift the flour, baking powder, and salt into the mixture. Fold them in alternately with the milk, stirring gently with a spatula until the batter is smooth and even.
5. Assemble the cake:
Gently fold half of the apples into the batter. Pour the batter into the prepared pan, then arrange the remaining apple slices on top, forming a rosette or pressing them lightly. Sprinkle with brown sugar for a caramelized touch (optional).
