What is Clove Oil?
Clove oil is an infused oil made by soaking fresh or dried clove buds in a carrier oil. The slow maceration process gently draws the clove’s beneficial compounds into the oil.
Known for its pain-relieving and calming properties, clove oil can help ease toothaches, sore muscles, and minor skin irritations. Combined with the right carrier oil, it also works as a gentle moisturizer, especially for sensitive or dry skin. Clove oil is often used to promote hair growth and support a more even skin tone.
Infused Oil vs Clove Essential Oil
Clove infused oil is made by steeping clove buds in a carrier oil such as olive, jojoba, or almond oil. This method produces a milder oil that’s gentle and safe for regular topical use.
Clove essential oil, on the other hand, is steam-distilled from clove buds. It’s highly concentrated, with a much stronger scent and more potent therapeutic properties. While it can be very effective for pain relief, oral care, and antimicrobial use, it should be used cautiously. As it is so intense, one should use it in small amounts and always dilute it. For making essential oils at home, you would need a steam distiller.

How does Clove Oil work?
Clove oil works mainly through a powerful compound called eugenol, which has natural anesthetic, anti-inflammatory, and antimicrobial properties. When applied to the skin or gums, eugenol helps numb pain, reduce swelling, and fight bacteria.
This makes clove oil effective for relieving toothaches, soothing sore muscles, calming irritated skin, and even supporting oral hygiene.
