Steam inhalation helps clear mucus. Fill a bowl with hot water, lean over it (with a towel covering your head to trap the steam), and breathe deeply. This moistens the airways, making it easier to expel mucus. You can also use a humidifier or steam inhaler.
Hot compress :
Apply a warm compress to your chest or throat. A towel soaked in warm water and wrung out works wonders for relieving congestion. The heat promotes blood circulation, helping to relax the airways.
Honey and lemon :
Mix a tablespoon of honey with a little fresh lemon juice in warm water or herbal tea. Honey soothes a sore throat, while lemon helps break down mucus. Adding a little ginger or cayenne pepper can also stimulate circulation and clear the airways.
Use a humidifier :
A humidifier adds moisture to the air, making mucus easier to expel. This can be especially helpful at night. Be sure to clean it regularly to prevent bacteria from growing.
